Bhubaneswar: The Odisha govt has implemented a new single-window system to provide immediate medical assistance through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to patients in need. The initiative, launched during the ninth session of the chief minister's grievance hearing programme on Monday, aims to streamline the process of financial aid disbursement for those suffering from severe and chronic illnesses.
"This new system ensures swift delivery of medical assistance to those who need it the most," chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
To facilitate the process, a dedicated medical team has been stationed at the grievance cell.
In its inaugural implementation, four patients received immediate financial assistance. While a bone marrow cancer patient received Rs 3 lakh, three others were given Rs 1 lakh each, the CM told media persons.
The initiative is part of the govt's broader grievance redressal system, which successfully resolved 84% of the 8,737 complaints received since its launch in July last year, a statement issued by the chief minister's office said.
The programme prioritises assistance to differently abled individuals, senior citizens and those requiring urgent services.
Seven ministers attended Monday's session, along with senior secretaries from various departments, demonstrating the govt's commitment to addressing public grievances efficiently.
