Lucknow: There is a need for a collective effort to promote positive values and counter the negative impact of Bollywood on Indian society by ensuring stricter regulations and laws to curb the spread of explicit content on OTT platforms and social media.
This was emphasised by panellists during a session titled 'OTT: Cultural Pollution' held at the Vaicharik Kumbh on Sunday.
Former information commissioner at Central information commission, Uday Mahurkar, emphasised the need to regulate OTT content, which is promoting soft pornography and contributing to the rise in rape cases, family breakdowns, and divorces. He cited examples of films and TV shows that promote illicit relationships and extra-marital affairs and criticised the Bollywood industry for glorifying such content. Mahurkar also highlighted the need for stricter laws and regulations to curb the spread of pornography and explicit content on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, in another session, the concept of 'Antyodaya', coined by Deendayal Upadhyaya, was explained by the panellists. TNN
