Thieves burgle five flats in city’s apartment
Patna: A day after burglary at a former DSP's house on Birla Mandir Road, thieves took away gold ornaments, cash, and other valuables after breaking locks of five flats of an apartment located in Rajendra Nagar (road number 12) in the state capital on Monday.
After receiving information, police along with a dog squad and FSL team reached the apartment to launch an investigation and collect evidence. The amount of theft has not been confirmed yet, police said.
According to police inspector Rajeev Kumar, thieves entered the apartment in the early hours and broke open the locks of five flats, two of which were vacant. "No application has been received from the affected residents yet. The amount of theft is being assessed," he said.
Diksha, SDPO-I (Town), said an apartment located within the limits of the Kadamkuan police station area was burgled by unidentified thieves. "Investigation is underway, and a police team is working since morning on all aspects. All CCTV footage and other evidence are being seen. The stolen items are being verified. An application will be submitted to the police by the apartment's president, and accordingly, further action will be taken," she said.
The SDPO added: "There was one guard on duty at night who apparently did not notice what was happening, and this is also being investigated."
According to police, four people, covering their faces with towels and having lock cutters in their hands, are seen entering the apartment late in the night in the CCTV footage. The incident happened between 2.30am and 3am, they said.
Sneh Lata, president of the apartment, said the thieves entered through A block. "They broke into Ashutosh Kumar's flat 104 in A block by breaking the lock. They also burgled flat number 103 in B block and three flats in D block," she said.
