Kanpur: The final rites of bandit queen Kusuma Nain were performed with rituals in Kurawali village of Kuthaund block in Jalaun under heavy police presence. Her spouse, Kedar, lit the funeral pyre.
After nearly five decades, on Sunday night, Kusuma Nain's mortal remains arrived at her home. The local authorities maintained strict vigilance during the cremation proceedings. Throughout the night, substantial police presence was maintained in the village, and the following morning, her cremation was conducted under police protection.
Residents from across the district converged at Kurauli village to offer their tributes. The gathering included her former associates, family members, and local villagers who came to bid their farewell. While the news of her passing brought solemnity to the village, the situation remained calm. The funeral procession proceeded on Monday morning under tight security measures, followed by the ceremonial last rites. Her husband Kedar, also known as Ruthe Yajnik, conducted the final rituals alongside his children from his second marriage and other family members.
