Zirakpur MC seals building over illegal construction

Mohali: Cracking down on illegal constructions, Zirakpur municipal council on Sunday sealed an under-construction building. Despite being served a notice, the construction was continuing.
Additional deputy commissioner (urban development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal said that recently, on receiving a complaint of illegal construction on Lohgarh Road, executive officer of the municipal council, Ashok Kumar Patharia, issued a notice to Harmeet Sharma under sections 195 and 195-A of Punjab Municipality Act 1911. The notice was ignored.
The ADC said that taking strict cognisance of this, the building under construction was sealed after orders from deputy commissioner Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. He said if the construction continues despite the sealing action, legal action will be taken against the person concerned.
The ADC appealed to the people of the district that before doing any construction work, the construction map must be approved by the competent authority. He also appealed that no construction should be done by going beyond the approved map.
