JMM-RJD confident of presenting robust budget proposals today
Ranchi: The Hemant Soren-led coalition govt is all set to table the annual budget proposal for the financial year 2025-26 on Monday. Key constituents of the coalition govt — JMM, Congress and RJD — have expressed confidence the budget proposals would reflect the popular govt's vision for people's welfare and the development of the state.
JMM central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said the budget would be three-dimensional, encompassing spirits of prosperity, happiness and progress for a developed state. "We have proved our commitment to the development of the state and the welfare of the people, following which govt was given a second chance in office. We will live up to the expectations of electorate," he said.
Bhattacharya, however, urged BJP to honour the democratic norms and do away with the conspiracy of weakening democratic processes. "They do not believe in the democratic process and it would be historic if the budget is tabled in the house in the absence of the leader of the opposition," he said. Calling upon BJP to elect their leader of the legislative party before the tabling of the budget, Bhattacharya said, "A strong opposition is a part of the govt in a democracy."
RJD state general secretary Kailash Yadav also expressed confidence in the govt for better performance despite challenges "created" by the Centre.
"The CAG report has criticised the state govt's spending from central funds during the Covid-19 period, but Jharkhand managed the pandemic far better than other states," he said, accusing the CAG of playing into the hands of the BJP govt.
Stating that then CAG Vinod Rai criticised the Manmohan Singh govt during the UPA-II tenure in its report, Yadav said, "But when the matter reached court, he apologised for presenting a fake report."
With the remark, Yadav indicated that "CAG reports are no longer neutral and are dictated by the Centre".
