Bow to humanity, preserve human values: DKS
Udupi: "We must all bow to humanity and preserve human values. We should live according to our religious path without causing trouble to anyone," said deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar.
At the Brahmakalashotsava event at Sri Hosa Marigudi temple in Kaup on Sunday, Shivakumar said, "The Marigudi temple has been magnificently constructed without any government assistance, solely through the contribution of devotees. I have never seen such a grand temple in Karnataka. It is truly heartwarming to know that the entire temple was built at a cost of Rs 99 crores with the support of devotees. The temple's architecture is remarkable, with intricate carvings crafted from Ilkal's red stone. I have not come here as the deputy chief minister but as a devotee, accepting the invitation from my friends Uday Kumar Shetty and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake."
He further said, "I will ask my family to visit this temple, which stands as a symbol of protection and inclusivity of all castes, religions, sects, and communities. A temple nurtures the sacred bond between the devotee and the divine. Goddess Durga is the remover of human suffering. Every religion upholds the same fundamental principle — one deity with many names, one devotion expressed through various forms of worship, and one faith despite different practices. Participating in the ‘Mari Amma' event is a truly blessed moment in my life." He emphasised, "God does not grant boons or curses anyone. God only provides opportunities."
Noting that female deities are given highest priority in Indian culture, Shivakumar said that the names of deities often include names of their consorts, like Lakshmi Venkateshwara or Shiva Parvati.
"Kaup is the sacred abode of Goddess Mari Amma, who protects everyone. Visiting this place is truly a blessing for me. I have seen countless temples, but the renovation of this temple is unparalleled. The artisans have crafted remarkable work in both stone and wood. This temple and its deity embrace all, without any caste discrimination. Here, everyone, regardless of social status has equal access. In this sacred space, only humanity exists," he said.
