Rajkot: A 14-year-old boy riding pillion on his cousin's motorcycle died after the vehicle hit a newly built speedbreaker at Kevadavadi in the Bhaktinagar area on Friday night. The rider, the victim's cousin, also suffered critical injuries and is being treated at a hospital.
The incident was captured on CCTV footage, which shows the riders being thrown off due to the immense impact. The deceased was identified as Paresh Shekhaliya.
Sources said the motorcycle was going at a high speed and the rider failed to notice the new speed bump ahead and lost control. Paresh was thrown off the vehicle and collided with an electricity pole, suffering head severe injuries that killed him at the spot.
The cousins worked as drummers and were returning from a party in the Bhagvatipara area.
Bhaktinagar police registered an accidental death case and are investigating whether the motorcycle was speeding or if the contractor failed to install proper road signs and white marking on the speedbreaker.
