Cop booked for concealing criminal past
Lucknow: The District Crime Control Bureau (DCRB) in-charge, inspector Angad Pratap Singh, in Barabanki has been accused of concealing his past criminal record to secure a promotion.
According to police, Angad Singh had a robbery case registered against him at Colonelganj police station in Kanpur in 1999, and in 2002, a charge sheet was filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
However, during his tenure in Fatehpur (2015-16), he submitted a false declaration claiming he had no criminal cases against him. Following directives from IG (Establishment), circle officer (Sadar) Harshit Chauhan investigated the matter and found that Singh had misled the department. Based on a complaint by SP office head clerk Meena Bhatia, a case was registered at City Kotwali police station in Barabanki.
SP Barabanki Dinesh Kumar Singh said that an FIR had been registered. "After the investigation, a report will be submitted to the IG (Establishment), which oversees matters related to non-gazetted ranks in the police, and action will be taken against Angad Pratap Singh," he said.
