Coimbatore Corporation aims to step up tax collection through weekly camps

The Coimbatore Corporation plans to hold special camps for tax collection every week this month to achieve its revenue target and facilitate the payment of property tax, vacant land tax, professional tax, water charges, and other dues for the second half of the financial year 2024-25.

The Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran said, “We are collecting around ₹3 crores in revenue per day and have achieved 77 % of this year’s target. At this pace, we are likely to reach 100% by the end of this month. These special camps have been effective, and we are also increasing awareness through SMS alerts, group collections, and door-to-door visits by officials.”

According to data from the civic body, ₹590.15 crore has been collected so far across all tax categories, with a total target of ₹766.43 crores for the fiscal.
