Professor from Japan’s Tokyo Univ visits BHU
Varanasi: Associate Professor Kenji Takahashi from Toyo University in Japan visited BHU as part of students exchange programme on Saturday. During his visit, he explored opportunities by touring various departments and institutes. Professor Takahashi delivered a lecture in the department of Pali and Buddhist Studies on ‘The Influence of Sanskrit Language on Japanese Language and Culture.' He illustrated the ancient influence of Sanskrit on the Japanese language and the historical cultural ties between India and Japan through examples of Sanskrit letters, ‘hom', and other Sanskrit-like words. tnn
The programme began with a blessing chant by Buddhist monks. HoD professor Lalji welcomed the guest with a ceremonial scarf, while professor Bimalendra Kumar expressed gratitude for his visit. The event was conducted by researcher Dechen.
This academic exchange programme will serve as an important step towards strengthening mutual cooperation in language, culture, and Buddhist studies between the two countries.
