Chandrapur: A shocking case of mass cheating surfaced in Chandrapur during the SSC (Class 10) English examination, where a teacher was caught helping students on Saturday. The malpractice came to light when a district administration squad raided an examination centre at Gopalrao Wankhede School in Nandgaon (Pode), Ballarpur taluka.
Collector Vinay Gowda GC has ordered a crackdown on examination centres involved in cheating. A team led by sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Gondpipri, Apurva Basur, conducted a surprise inspection at the school. During the inspection, she discovered that instead of preventing students from using unfair means, teacher Deepak Murlidhar Turankar was collecting chits and allowing students to copy answers in Room No. 2. Similar instances were detected in other exam halls of the school.
Taking serious note of the violations, the administration has decided to take strict action against the examination centre. A proposal will be sent to the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to revoke Gopalrao Wankhede School's status as an exam centre from the next academic year.
Additionally, cases have been registered against two students and forwarded to the board for further action. A detailed report on Turankar's involvement has also been submitted to the board, which will determine appropriate disciplinary measures, according to secondary education officer (Madhyamik) Rajesh Patale. He also urged citizens to report any incidents of exam malpractice to invigilators or the education department.
