Patna: Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) has been awarded the prestigious Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) research grant of Rs 7.13 crore by the department of science and technology (DST) to strengthen its research ecosystem.
The award was presented to CUSB's research team, led by vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Friday. The grant was handed over by Union minister of state for science and technology minister Jitendra Singh. The PURSE team members present at the event included Durg Vijai Singh, Venktesh Singh, Ram Pratap Singh and Prafull Kumar Singh.
Of 47 central universities in the country, only three, including CUSB received the PURSE grant this year. It is also the only university in Bihar and Jharkhand to be awarded this prestigious grant for cutting-edge research aligned with ‘Viksit Bharat', said CUSB vice-chancellor Singh.
CUSB's public relations officer, Mohammad Mudassir Alam, said under this project, a dedicated team of scientists would study Bihar's flora and fauna, along with biosensors based on field-effect transistors and biodegradable polymers.
