Mysuru: District minister HC Mahadevappa said the Devaraja Market and Lansdowne Building will be demolished and rebuilt within a set timeframe.
Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, the minister said the recent incident of collapse of Maharani's Science College for Women building is an eye-opener for all. "The urban development minister has said enough funds are available for the demolition and construction of the Devaraja Market and Lansdowne Building," he said.
The minister said the Dasara expenditure details will be released soon. "Everything is transparent. Soon, we will release the expenditure," he said.
Minister Mahadevappa also criticised the BJP, which is alleging that Special Component Plan (SCP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds are misused for the guarantee schemes. "The central govt is not filling backlog posts. It has allocated very few funds for the social justice ministry. But in Karnataka, it is attacking chief minister Siddaramaiah, who brought a law to ensure that SC/ST population will get their fair share in the budget," he said.
He also denied any rift in the Congress following DCM DK Shivakumar's participation in Shivaratri celebrations along with Union home minister Amit Shah. "I can't react to minister KN Rajanna's criticism of Shivakumar. There will not be any Eknath Shinde in Karnataka politics," he said.
The minister informed that the CM is recovering from his leg pain. "He requires a few more weeks of rest," he said.
B-khata drive launched
Mahadevappa launched the B-khata drive in the Mysuru City Corporation limits on Saturday. In MCC limits, around 25,000 revenue sites are expected to get B-khata.
The minister, on the occasion, made it clear that this drive is not taken up to fill govt treasury. "Those who built houses on the revenue sites are facing a lot of problems. This drive has been taken up to provide them with basic amenities," he said.
"We can't answer all the critics. This drive is a much-needed relief for the people of Karnataka," he said.
