Sasaram: A three-member committee has been formed at the behest of Dehri-on-Sone subdivisional magistrate (SDM) Surya Pratap Singh to investigate an event held on the Rohtas block office premises during Mahashivaratri celebrations on February 26, when obscene dance performances were allegedly presented. The incident gained attention when a video of the performances went viral on social media.
The event, allegedly organized by Rohtas block development officer Babalu Kumar, featured dancers performing to lewd Bhojpuri songs. Several officials, including block education officer Kanhaiya Kumar and local police station SHO Nikunj Bhushan were present. In the footage, officials and police officers can purportedly be seen enjoying the performance, with money being thrown at the dancers.
In response to the controversy, the Rohtas district administration formed the three-member inquiry committee, consisting of Dehri-on-Sone DCLR Abhishek Kumar, Rohtas nagar panchayat executive officer Krishna Svarup and Dehri additional election officer-cum-executive magistrate Santosh Kumar Singh, to verify the authenticity of the viral video.
"A formal investigation is underway, and appropriate measures will be taken once the inquiry is complete. Authorities are also working to trace the origin and purpose of the money distributed during the event," said the SDM, expressing dismay over the inappropriate nature of the event.
