Yogi Adityanath, who arrived in Prayagraj on Thursday to mark the formal completion of Maha Kumbh 2025, announced an additional bonus of Rs 10,000 for the sanitation and health workers deployed on Maha Kumbh duty as recognition of their hard work and dedication.
The govt will bear an expenditure of over Rs 84 crore on paying Rs 10,000 bonus to Kumbh staff.
The CM also announced that the state govt is all set to form a corporation through which it will provide Rs 16,000 per month to every sanitation worker, health worker and all those workers who were not getting minimum wages.
This amount will be sent to their account through DBT from April. The CM also announced that every sanitation worker, health worker will be linked to health insurance of Rs 5 lakh through Ayushman Bharat or CM Jan Arogya Yojana. "As part of the acknowledgment of their contribution in making the mega event successful, the state govt will be taking further steps for the welfare of sanitary and health workers after the Maha Kumbh," the CM said. "All of you have proved that if there is even a will power and the right support is received, then any result can be achieved," the CM said.
He also spearheaded a cleanliness drive at the Arail Ghat, joining sanitation workers along with his ministers.
The whole cabinet was involved in the ‘shramdaan' on the banks of the sacred Ganga. The CM also launched a broader initiative to clean the entire fair area.
Expressing his gratitude for the successful organization of Maha Kumbh, the CM wrote on ‘X', "Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision and supported by dedicated cleanliness ambassadors, the dream of a well-organised and pristine Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj has been realised. Today, along with my cabinet colleagues, I participated in the cleanliness campaign at Arail Ghat. I extend heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to making this Maha Kumbh a resounding success."
The CM claimed that whoever arrived at the tent city appreciated two things. "One was cleanliness and sanitation workers and the other was the behavior of the police," he said.
He also appreciated the people of Prayagraj who treated Kumbh as their home event by arranging community feasts and greeting guests at various places. "What would be the situation if 7-8 crore people suddenly come to a city where 25 to 30 lakh people live. If 5 members live in a house and 10 people suddenly come, the situation becomes bad and here 20 times more people are coming, but the people of Prayagraj made it their event with full patience and happiness," he said. Yogi said that Maha Kumbh has presented many circuits of spiritual tourism within the state.
A circuit was made from Prayagraj to Kashi via Maa Vindhyavasini Dham. Just like crores of people gathered in Sangam city, similarly 5 to 7 lakh people gathered daily in Maa Vindhyavasini Dham during this period.
