Based on a sub-court order, court staff confiscated computers from Tamil Nadu Housing Board’s office here on Wednesday.
TNHB in 1997 acquired 1.18-acre land belonging to Ahamed Jalal of Pattanamkathan in Ramanathapuram for constructing housing complex. TNHB fixed ₹2,500 a cent as compensation amount.
Mr. Jalal demanding more compensation, filed a case with Ramanathapuram sub-court. The sub-court ordered TNHB to increase the compensation amount to ₹5,000 a cent.
As per the court order, TNHB paid the amount in two instalments. But, as the third instalment amount of ₹1.82 lakh was delayed for several months, Mr. Jalal approached the court again in 2019.
Despite the court ordering TNHB to pay the due amount immediately, TNHB did not heed to the court’s order.
Again, Mr. Jalal approached the sub-court with an execution petition. Sub-court judge Akila Devi, who heard the case on February 13 ordered the computer devices to be confiscated in TNHB office to compensate the amount due to be paid to Mr. Jalal.
Executing the order, court staff on Wednesday confiscated computer devices and printer from the office.
