Five killed in bus-car collision in Kulithalai

Five persons, including two women, were killed when a State-owned transport corporation bus collided with a car on the Karur-Tiruchi highway at Kulithalai in the early hours of Wednesday.

The bus was proceeding to Tiruppur from Aranthangi when it collided with the car that was on its way to Orathanadu from Coimbatore. On information, the police and fire and rescue service personnel from Kulithalai and Karur rushed to the spot and removed the bodies to the Government Hospital in Kulithalai for post-mortem.

All five persons, who were in the car, were killed on the spot. The victims were identified as Selvaraj, 50, his wife Kalaiarasi, 45, daughter Akalya, 25, Arun, 22, of Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore and Vishnu, 24, of Villarasanpatti in Erode. The victims were heading to a temple at Keelaiyur near Orathandu.

Collector M. Thangavel, Superintendent of Police K. Feroze Khan Abdullah inspected the accident spot. The Kulithalai police have registered a case and are investigating.
