Patna: Amid different parties chalking out strategies to scale up their winning tally in the upcoming assembly polls, the BJP's plan got leaked in the social media. The strategy highlighted whom they should target and whom to avoid to gain maximum political mileage, drawing sharp reactions from the RJD.
In a video that went viral on the social media, deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is heard telling party netas to primarily target RJD chief Lalu Prasad while sparing his son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. "I think we should refrain from speaking against Tejashwi; rather, we should target Lalu," Samrat is heard telling the party netas, who had gathered at the Bhagalpur circuit house on Monday in view of PM Narendra Modi's rally there. Senior party netas, including Union minister Giriraj Singh and state party president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, were present at the meeting, according to the video that went viral.
Sharing the video on its X handle, the RJD reacted strongly, saying there is a panic in the BJP ahead of the elections. "They have neither face nor tactics nor roadmap. Just imagine the condition of the Bihar BJP," the RJD posted on X on Tuesday.
"The BJP is plagued with Lalu phobia. The way they are trying to make Lalu an issue makes it clear that his son Tejashwi is getting the support of the masses, leaving them restless," RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari said, adding, out of sheer desperation, the BJP is trying to keep people's issues at bay. "But they must know that it was Lalu who worked for all sections of society and gave respect to the unprivileged class," he said.
In a counter attack, state BJP spokesperson Manoj Sharma said Tejashwi doesn't have his political stature as he banks on the popularity of his father. "Why should we target him? We will hit out at the source from where Tejashwi is getting power," Sharma said.
