We are talking about none other than Harshvardhan Nawathe, the first crorepati of Amitabh Bachchan’s popular quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati.
When Harshvardhan Nawathe appeared on KBC in 2000, he was a civil service and was studying diligently for IAS exams. However, his victory on the popular show catapulted him to fame, making him a household name overnight.
According to a report by HR Today, Harshvardhan has now become the CEO of JSW Foundation, the social development arm of JSW group. Before this role, he was still working with JSW Foundation as Chief Operating Officer (COO). As per the official data shared by the company, the net worth of JSW in 2024 was Rs 7966 crore. He had previously worked with several big shot companies like NatWest Group, Welspun Group and Mahindra Group.

In 2021, Nawathe, while speaking to Hindustan Times, shared how his life changed after KBC, “Post the show, I got recognition and financial security. Obviously, popularity changes the way people look at you. Meeting people and being recognised at various platforms has been wonderful.”
Recently, Harshvardhan Nawathe marked his return to KBC to celebrate its 25 years and said, “Ghar wapasi ki jo feeling hoti hai, voh hai. Pacchis (25) saal bohot bada period hota hai… yahan aake mujhe bohot zyada khushi ho rahi hai. KBC ne mujhe bohot recognition diya. Paisa toh khair mila hi par bohot adulation mila. Bohot logo ka pyaar mila.”
