DYFI stages protest against two cases of sexual assault, murder reported in Yadgir

Strongly condemning the inhuman act of sexual assault on a 19-year-old girl and a 15-year-old minor and their murder after which the bodies were thrown in a lake in Gurmitkal town of Yadgir district, members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) staged a protest here on Tuesday and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.

DYFI State president Lavitra Vastrad submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and came down heavily on police officials for their “lethargic and lackadaisical” approach in handling sexual abuse cases.

Both the victims belonging to nomadic communities (Alemari Budaga Jangama) were sexually assaulted while they were rag picking on February 12.

The federation members demanded thorough investigation of the case and the immediate arrest of the accused.
