Over 50 contract drivers operating vehicles for Coimbatore Corporation officials have sought wage revision and permanent employment.
They said that while the Collector-fixed daily wage for 2024-25 is ₹808, they are receiving only ₹759. The drivers urged the Corporation to revise their wages accordingly and consider making their positions permanent.
They submitted a petition to the Mayor during the weekly grievances redress meeting at the Corporation office on Tuesday. In response, Mayor R. Ranganayaki assured them that the Corporation would look into their demands.
