Family of Kalol resident donates organs

Ahmedabad: The Civil Hospital on Sunday received its 178th organ donation as the family of a Kalol resident agreed to donate his liver, two kidneys, and corneas. According to Civil Hospital officials, Bharat Patel was passing near Chandola Lake on Feb 21 when he sustained severe head injuries in a road accident. He was taken to Civil Hospital, where he was declared brain-dead on Feb 23. "The family experienced the long waiting period for organs for a relative who succumbed to health complications. Thus, they agreed to the donation," said an official.
