Here is a list of the most difficult board exams in India, which have the highest level of tough questions in India.

Toughest board exams of India: India has several boards of education including the national level boards like CBSE and ICSE and state levels like West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. In this article, we have prepared a list of the most difficult board exams in India, which have the highest level of tough questions in India.

  1. Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE): The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) is regarded as the toughest board of India because of the highest rate of hard questions. According to a report by NCERT PARAKH report, 66.60% of questions in the Tripura Board examination are rated as difficult.
  2. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE): The Maharashtra State Board is the second toughest board in India having nearly 53.57% of the questions in difficult form.
  3. Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is the third toughest board with approximately 44.66% tough questions, the report said.
  4. Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE): Like the Goa board, the Chhattisgarh state Board also has a high percentage of difficult questions at 44.44%, making it the fourth toughest exam of the country.
  5. West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE): The Bengal board comes as the fifth toughest boards in the country with 33.33% of tough questions.

Tough questions in CBSE and ICSE board

Talking about the CBSE board, the curriculum offered in the national board covers the syllabus in a analytical way but is not counted among the toughest boards of the country. Also, the ICSE board is one of the most challenging board but still misses out from toughest boards’ list.

CBSE’s proposed global curriculum to be available for other international schools

The global curriculum being prepared by CBSE for its foreign schools can also be offered by other international schools as well as those affiliated to the board in India, according to officials.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is in process of firming up plans to introduce the curriculum from 2026-27 academic session and a meeting has been called this week to discuss further before a draft is rolled out in public domain.

Last week, Union Education Minister had chaired a meeting where CBSE was directed to prepare a detailed action plan with modalities of establishing and implementing the global curriculum.
