Murder bid foiled, criminal arrested
Patna: A criminal, Lakshman Kumar, was arrested in Patna's Khajekalan area on Sunday night while attempting to kill an injured youth, Premraj Sah, who was receiving treatment at a private hospital. Lakshman and his associate, Amit, were allegedly hired by Shibu Kumar, also known as Shivam Yadav, to eliminate Premraj due to a long-standing rivalry over territorial dominance. The police recovered a country-made pistol, five live cartridges, a magazine and a cellphone from Lakshman's possession.
Patna Sadar ASP Abhinav said, "Criminals shot Premraj in the Machharhatta Jiya locality under the Khajekalan police station area on Feb 18. He was admitted to a private hospital in the Chitragupta Nagar police station area. The attackers feared that if Premraj survived, he would reveal their names to the police. So, they conspired to kill him again."
On Sunday night, two armed criminals arrived at the hospital. While one waited at the gate, the other entered the hospital and attempted to draw his weapon. However, Premraj's family members, who were present, caught him before he could act. Hearing the commotion, hospital staff rushed in and helped apprehend him. The second suspect fled.
