ACB nabs dy mamlatdar accepting Rs10k bribe
Ahmedabad: The Gandhinagar unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday conducted a decoy operation at the Kheralu mamlatdar office in Mehsana district, leading to the arrest of a deputy mamlatdar, Dharmendra Mehta, from the supply department.
Acting on a tip-off, ACB learned that fair price shop licence holders were being harassed and forced to pay monthly bribes ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. Those who refused faced unnecessary notices. A decoy citizen assisted in the operation, during which the accused demanded Rs 10,000 as a two-month bribe and accepted the amount, leading to his immediate arrest.
The operation was executed under the trapping officer, police inspector S D Chavda, and was supervised by deputy director, ACB Gandhinagar unit, Ashutosh Parmar.
