1.45 crore marked for street lights in Vibhuti Khand
Lucknow: The darkened streets of Vibhuti Khand, Gomtinagar, will soon have street lights, as a budget of Rs 1.45 crore has been allocated for installing electric poles, street lights and high-mast lights in the colony which was handed over to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation a few months back. The work is expected to complete by the end of Apr, benefiting around 5,000 families residing in the area.
Earlier, LDA handed over the colony to the municipal corporation but without installation of street lights. Following the handover, the municipal corporation's street lighting department floated a tender for the job. Chief engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) of the municipal corporation, Manoj Prabhat, confirmed the installation will begin soon for well-lit streets in Vibhuti Khand.
Meanwhile, LMC has installed new street lights in some areas. Areas in Ayodhya Marg and Kanpur Road that used to be engulfed in darkness are set to be illuminated. LMC's lighting department has installed 130 street lights on 115 poles from Matiyari to Kisan Path on Ayodhya Marg. Similarly, 60 street lights have been installed from Amausi Airport to Nadar Ganj divider cut on Kanpur Road.
Last month, govt allocated Rs 2.29 crore for street lighting on key roads to facilitate Mahakumbh pilgrims. tnn
