Dimapur: The 20-day watershed campaign, covering four districts of Nagaland, culminated at its last destination at Asukiqa village in Zunheboto district on Monday, incorporating four other villages of Ghokimi, Kitami, Tsaphimi and Puneboqa in the district.
The campaign, initiated under the Union ministry of land resources, was organised by the Nagaland land resources department.
Delivering the keynote address at the culmination programme, chairperson of the programme Roselyn Chishi said the watershed campaign is a mass outreach campaign to create awareness about watershed development activities carried out under the watershed development component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY 2.0) across 27 states and two UTs.
Chishi said the campaign included bhoomi poojan, lokarpan of new projects in every district, watershed mahotsav, shramdan, watershed ki panchayat, awards and recognitions of the watershed warriors and bhumi-jal pit, planned with the involvement of local community and the youth on voluntary basis.
She added the nationwide campaign helped in achieving community-driven approach (Jan Bhagidari), which needs to be adopted for implementation of watershed projects.
