Lucknow: Early diagnosis and timely treatment can cure nearly 80% of childhood cancers, experts highlighted at an event organised to mark International Childhood Cancer Day at the department of paediatric surgery in King George's Medical University on Saturday. Around 100 patients and their attendants were present at the event.
Addressing the gathering at the event, vice chancellor Prof Soniya Nityanand said, "We commend dedication of the doctors, residents, nursing officers and staff for their relentless efforts in giving the best treatment to children with serious health conditions."
Head of the paediatric surgery department, Prof JD Rawat said, "Nearly 80% of childhood cancers are curable with timely treatment. However, there is a need for greater public awareness."
