After DC order, Bokaro cracks down on illegal mining in dist

Bokaro: Following deputy commissioner Jadhav Vijaya Narayan Rao's directives, a team from the mining department inspected Sijua Hill area under the Balidih police station limits on Saturday and uncovered that around 1.7 lakh cubic feet of ordinary soil was illegally excavated.
"An FIR has been lodged against the perpetrators at Balidih police station," said the DC. Mine inspector Sitaram Tuddu and local police were present during the inspection. Sources revealed that land mafias were involved in levelling the 20-acre hill. Following an intervention from the forest department, the Chas circle officer investigated and filed a case. Authorities continue probing the illegal activities.
