Jaipur: A day after the state govt sought four months from
Rajasthan High Court to settle Sub-Inspector Recruitment-2021 case, a single judge bench gave the govt two months to arrive at a final decision in the matter. The next date of hearing is on May 2.
The court also clarified that status quo in recruitment shall continue until further orders.
Counsel for the petitioner, Harendra Neel, told TOI they objected to Justice Sameer Jain putting the petition in abeyance as state govt has enough reasons to cancel the exam following recommendations from SOG chief, advocate general and a report of the cabinet sub-committee.
Tanveer Ahamed, arguing for a group of petitioners who claimed they passed the exam genuinely and objected to the proposal for cancellation, said that the petitioners completed training and were not involved in the paper leak. "We left govt jobs for this one. If recruitment is cancelled, it will be injustice to us," Ahamed said.
Justice Jain, in a verbal remark, said the court could only grant the govt two to three months, but that status quo must remain in recruitments in the interim and that no one should be given field postings. Additional advocate general Vigyan Shah assured the court that status quo will be maintained and no trainee SI will be given a field posting. "But, we will be at liberty to investigate and take other actions in the recruitment," Shah said.
