Lucknow: The Lucknow police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly making derogatory remarks against chief minister Yogi Adityanath on social media.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Salman Mansuri (21), son of Mohammad Salim and a resident of Jehta village under Dubagga police station in Lucknow, was arrested following an investigation by Thakurganj police.
The case stems from a video that surfaced on social media on Feb 19 last, in which the accused allegedly made derogatory remarks against the CM.
The police registered an FIR at Thakurganj police station.
"The police swiftly identified the accused and arrested him for attempting to disrupt social harmony through his inflammatory social media post," said a senior police official.
Thakurganj SHO Shrikant Rai said Mohammad Salman Mansuri was serving as the vice-president of the Muslim League in Lucknow and had previously made objectionable comments against political leaders on his social media page.
