Actor and stand-up comedian Aarya Babbar recently gave a performance where he presented a comedy set about his family members. He spoke about not being invited to brother Prateik Babbar’s second wedding with Priya Banerjee and how his father reacted when he didn’t get invite for the same. Aarya, who also took part in Bigg Boss, also spoke about his mother Nadira Babbar.
Babbar said in a YouTube video that his mother is a Muslim but learned Punjabi bolis for her stepson Prateik’s wedding, while his sister Juhi Babbar made laddoos for the occasion.
Aarya shared how, at a young age, he was questioned by reporters about his father’s relationship with Smita Patil. At the time, Raj was already married to Nadira when he fell in love with Smita. The two got married and had a son, Prateik, but sadly, Smita passed away during childbirth. After that, Raj reunited with Nadira.
Recalling his childhood, Aarya said, “When I was around 6-7 years old, I loved playing hide and seek. But instead of playing with my friends, I was hiding from the media. They would suddenly appear, shove a microphone in my face, and ask, ‘Your father is having an affair. How do you feel about it?’”
Aarya Babbar seriously shared his father and Smita didn’t have affair kind of thing, it was a pure relationship. “But honestly, that wasn’t an affair. That was genuine pure love that Papa and Smita ma felt for each other. As a family, we understood and respected that relationship, and accepted it . But when you are 6-7 years old, you don’t understand all of this. And it was because of this, that my relationship with my father was strained. Because I couldn’t get it,” he said. He then added his joke, “Now that I am 43 and I have been married for 8-9 years, I understand, ‘Baap itna bhi galat nahi tha (My father wasn’t that wrong)’.”
