Patna: Four people, including Dr Soni Yadav (28), the niece of Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, were likked in a road accident on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur four-lane highway under the Birno police station area in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday night.
The accident took place when the car carrying Dr Yadav and her companions collided with a stationary truck. The victims were returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj when the incident occurred.
According to the police, the deceased included Dr Soni, her aunt Gayatri Devi (55), medical representative Vipin Mandal (30) and driver Salauddin (35). Dr Soni's assistant, Deepak Jha (30), sustained severe injuries in the accident.
"Initial investigations suggest that the driver, Salauddin, dozed off at the wheel, leading to the accident. Deepak Jha took over the driving but lost control, resulting in the collision," said a Birno police officer.
Dr Soni was a medical professional and ran a private hospital, Durga Nursing Home, in Purnia's Line Bazar area. She is survived by her husband, Dr Mukesh Yadav, and their twin sons.
Pappu expressed his condolences on a social media platform, saying that the loss of his niece was unbearable. He shared photos of his meeting with the family and offered his support during the difficult time.
"This is a difficult time for our family. The loss is impossible to put into words. It's hard to believe that a talented, sensitive, and hardworking daughter left this world so soon. The daughter who vowed to save lives, losing her in such a way is unbearable. A mountain of grief has fallen upon the family, which can never be compensated. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give the grieving family the strength to bear this unbearable pain. This loss is irreparable, but she will always be alive in our memories," he said.
