Haveri: SR Patil, vice president of the Karnataka Guarantee Scheme Implementation Authority, addressed concerns regarding the three-month delay in disbursing Rs 2,000 grant under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme for women family heads. He attributed the delay to women and child welfare minister Laxmi Hebbalkar's health issues after a road accident.
During Friday's media interaction in Haveri, he acknowledged the pending payments to women family heads. He said Karnataka allocated Rs 58,000 crore for guarantee schemes.
Addressing concerns of male passengers and students using NWKRTC buses, Patil highlighted the Shakti scheme's positive impact on women's mobility, noting a 40% increase in passenger numbers in the Belagavi division. KSRTC generated Rs 3,900 crore in the past 18 months. "The govt procured 846 new buses, and we require an additional 800 buses. We shall address certain scheme-related issues, as the public embraced our five guarantees, which shall continue," he said.
Authority district president MM Hiremath, taluk president MM Maidur, district Congress president Sanjeev Neeralagi, block Congress president PS Bishtanagoudra, CMC member Nagaraj Talawar, and others were present.
