M K Stalin on Thursday chaired a meeting of the members of the state's economic advisory council at the state secretariat. The meeting was held ahead of the state's budget that is scheduled to be presented on March 14.
Addressing the meeting, Stalin said the state has been implementing several schemes and initiatives suggested by the members of EAC over the past four years. These measures including 1,000 cash dole per month to women heads of more than 1.14 crore households, 1,000 to govt school students pursuing higher education, ‘Naan Mudhalvan' skill development scheme and the breakfast scheme undertaken by the state have been appreciated by people, a statement from the govt said.
The chief minister said social welfare schemes implemented by the state govt has hastened the economic progress of Tamil Nadu and has set it on the path of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
While the members of EAC including Esther Duflo, Raghuram Rajan, Arvind Subramanian, Jean Dreze and S Narayan participated in the meeting virtually, chief secretary N Muruganandam and finance secretary T Udhayachandran were present at the meeting.
