An 18-year-old girl and a 32-year-old man on a motorcyle were killed after an MCD truck ran over them in south-east Delhi’s Govindpuri on Thursday, the police said.

“A team was immediately sent to the spot and later the truck driver and his helper were arrested. The offending vehicle has also been seized,” a senior police officer said.

The victims were identified as Javed Khan, who was driving the bike, and Mayra, who was riding pillion, the officer added.

According to the police, the incident happened when Javed was going to drop Mayra at her school.

The matter came to light when personnel at the Govindpuri police station received a PCR call about a road accident near Tughlakabad Extension.

The family members of the victims held a protest after the accident and demanded strict action against the accused.
