Mumbai: The Maharashtra cyber cell, which is probing a case of obscenity tied to standup comic Samay Raina's YouTube show ‘India's Got Latent' and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, has summoned actor
Rakhi Sawant to record her statement on Feb 27, officials said on Friday.
Sawant had been a guest on another episode of the show. Reports suggested she repeatedly interrupted a co-judge during the episode with inappropriate jokes, escalating tension between them throughout the show. This reportedly culminated in a heated exchange that led to the episode's abrupt end.
Sawant later took to Instagram to clarify that she did not abuse anyone during the show. "There is no point in sending me a summons. You can just video-call me and I will answer every question. I am an artist. I was paid to do the interview and I did the interview. That's it. I did not abuse anyone during the interview."
The cyber cell has already summoned more than 50 persons, including comedians, content creators and social media influencers, who had participated in Raina's show. It has summoned Allahbadia, popular on YouTube for his ‘BeerBiceps' channel, to record his statement on Monday. YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchalani, who had appeared on the episode along with Allahbadia, has also been called to record his statement the same day, an official said, adding that some more persons are likely to be summoned on Feb 23-24.
On Tuesday, SC had granted interim protection from arrest to Allahbadia over his comment, while calling it "vulgar" and saying he had a "dirty mind" that put society to shame. agencies
