Ghaziabad: Police arrested two men on Thursday for allegedly thrashing a shopkeeper and hitting his brother with their car in Shalimar Garden earlier this month.
On Monday, Sandeep Batra filed a police complaint alleging three unknown men had beat him up and hit his brother with their car the night prior.
Batra told cops he was closing up his paan shop on Sunday night when three men arrived in an Eco van and asked to buy cigarettes. Initially, Batra sold them some cigarettes but when they returned a few minutes later, he had already locked up the shop and hence refused to sell them more.
Enraged, the men began to beat him up. When Batra's brother Sagar intervened, they attempted to leave but Sagar blocked their car, leading to him getting hit r and being dragged by it.
An FIR was registered under BNS section 109 (attempt to murder) and 115 (voluntarily causing hurt) and cops arrested two accused – Happy Kumar (25) and Sunil Kumar (35) – on Thursday. "The third accused is absconding," said ACP (Shalimar Garden) Saloni Aggarwal.
