Congress Alka Lamba's Nostalgic Post For Delhi CM-Elect Rekha Gupta, Shares 'Memorable' Oath-Taking Picture From 1995 | X

New Delhi: Setting aside political differences, Congress leader Alka Lamba on Wednesday congratulated newly elected Delhi chief minister-elect Rekha Gupta. Lamba shared a picture from 1995 in which both leaders were seen together.

The Congress leader recalled taking oath alongside Gupta. The Congress leader said that in 1995 she took oath as as DUSU President from NSUI and Gupta as General Secretary from ABVP.

"Congratulations and best wishes to Rekha Gupta," Lamba wrote in her X post.

"Congratulations to Delhi for getting its fourth woman chief minister. We hope #MaaYamuna will be clean, and daughters will be safe," the Congress leader further wrote.

Nobaly, Lamba won the DUSU elections in 1995 and became its president from NSUI, while Gupta, was elected as general secretary from ABVP the same year. The NSUI is a student body of the Congress and the ABVP is the BJP's student wing.

On Wednesday, Gupta was chosen as BJP’s legislative leader. Later in the day, she met Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and staked her claim to form the government.

Gupta will take oath as the Delhi CM today. She will be the fourth woman chief minister of Delhi after, Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit and Atishi. Gupta is a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, Along with her, six Delhi cabinet ministers will also take the oath. These ministers are - Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Kumar Indraj, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ashish Sood.

The BJP returned to power in Delhi after 27 years. In the recently concluded, Delhi Assembly Elections, the BJP bagged 48 seats, while the remaining 22 seats were won by the Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
