Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh): A patwari was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹23,000 in Pichhore town of Shivpuri district on Thursday.

The Lokayukta team arrested patwari Digvijay Singh Parihar, who had chosen the rented house of another patwari, Prahlad Verma, as the location to receive the bribe.

According to information, as soon as patwari Prahlad Parihar accepted the money from the complainant, the Lokayukta team intervened and caught both patwaris in the act.

The case was reported by Shankar Lodhi, a resident of Chhirwaha village. He alleged that patwari Prahlad Parihar had demanded a total of ₹25,000 to process a mutation and will-related matter.

Earlier, Lodhi had already paid ₹2,000 but was asked to pay the remaining amount. Frustrated with the demand, he approached the Lokayukta office and filed a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Lokayukta team set a trap. When Lodhi handed over the remaining money, the officials immediately took action and arrested the patwari on the spot.

This incident has once again highlighted corruption in land-related matters and the urgent need for stricter measures to curb such practices.
