LUCKNOW: Police have filed charges against fifteen hospital workers following the alleged assault on two transgender individuals at a private healthcare facility near Rahimabad on Tuesday evening. Three suspects are currently in police custody.
The incident occurred when Madhu and her companion, both members of the transgender community, visited the hospital to collect traditional Holi festival donations, a common cultural practice in the region. According to Madhu's formal complaint, what began as a routine request escalated into violence when hospital staff allegedly responded with hostility, physically assaulted them, and robbed them.
"They not only attacked us but also stole my necklace and money," said Madhu, a resident of the Mall area, in her police complaint.
The assault sparked immediate protests from the transgender community, who blocked the busy Hardoi Road, demanding justice and swift action against the perpetrators.
SHO, Rahimabad, Anubhav Patel, said that an FIR under the BNS sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) 353 (criminal intimidation), 191 (rioting), and 304 (chain loot) has been registered.
