Rail Services Disrupted Across Rajasthan as Trains Rerouted for Mahakumbh Special Operations

Jaipur, February 19, 2025 – The Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of multiple trains operating between Rajasthan and Prayagraj, as well as other parts of Eastern India, due to increased passenger influx for Mahakumbh 2025.
Passengers traveling from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, and Bikaner to Prayagraj and other key destinations will face disruptions, as several trains have been suspended or rerouted.
According to Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the decision was made to accommodate Mahakumbh Special Trains and manage the heavy rush of pilgrims.

Trains from Jaipur, Mathura, Alwar, and Ajmer

Rerouted Trains
🚆 Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) – On February 19, 2025, the train departing from Bikaner will now operate via Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Chhapra instead of Kanpur Central, Prayagraj, and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction.
Partially Cancelled Trains
🚆 Tilak Bridge-Sirsa Express (14085) – On February 18, 2025, the train will not operate from Tilak Bridge and will instead depart from New Delhi, effectively canceling services on the Tilak Bridge-New Delhi section.
Railway Measures for Mahakumbh Crowd Management
🚨 North Western Railway’s Captain Shashi Kiran confirmed that the cancellations were necessary to ensure a smooth travel experience for Mahakumbh pilgrims. Many train rakes have been diverted for Mahakumbh Special Trains, which is why regular services have been disrupted.
Security Measures at New Delhi Railway Station
🔹 CRPF and Delhi Police deployed for crowd control.
🔹 Platform ticket sales suspended from 4 PM to 11 PM until February 26 to prevent congestion.
