Patna: Unidentified assailants on Wednesday shot dead a 40-year-old farmer, Bhuklu Paswan, in the Barh sub-division of Patna district on Wednesday. Paswan was on his way to cut grass in his field along with his father, Shailendra Paswan, when the incident occurred. Two bike-borne men arrived at the spot and fired at Paswan, killing him instantly.
The incident sparked outrage among family members and locals, who blocked the Bakhtiyarpur-Patna four-lane road. Police intervened and convinced the protesters to lift the blockade. The incident appears to be related to an ongoing dispute, police said.
The deceased was a resident of Chakdaulatpur village under the jurisdiction of Bakhtiyarpur police station in Patna district. Barh SDPO-II, Abhishek Singh, said: "The body was sent for a postmortem to the sub-divisional hospital in Barh. The murder was a result of an old dispute. Police have taken two suspects into custody for questioning and called a forensic team to investigate the case."
Bakhtiyarpur SHO, Dev Anand Kumar, said the family members of the deceased have filed a written complaint against some people of the same village. The deceased was an accused in the murder case of a man who belonged to the accused's family. The murder occurred in 2015, he said.
