Viral video shows Bedam alleging Urdu teachers got jobs with fake degrees
Jaipur: Controversy over Urdu education in govt schools intensified Monday with minister of state for home, Jawahar Singh Bedam, claiming in a now viral video that Urdu teachers in Rajasthan secured jobs with fake degrees. Bedam said the previous Congress govt sanctioned posts for Urdu teachers "without planning".
"The previous govt removed Sanskrit teachers and posted Urdu teachers in their place. Now we do not know Urdu, and no one even studies that subject…which is why we will discontinue the posts of Urdu teachers and provide the kind of education that people want here. We are working for it continuously…," Bedam is seen saying on camera.
Urdu teachers in the state termed the minister's claims as baseless and irresponsible. President of Rajasthan Urdu Teachers Association, Amin Kayamkhani, said, "It is very wrong that a cabinet minister is making such statements from a public platform in Bharatpur district. Terming the degrees of Urdu teachers as fake without investigation is wrong. Also, the allegation against the previous govt of appointing Urdu teachers against Sanskrit posts is false and baseless. The minister is only trying to get false sympathy of the majority community by targeting the linguistic minority and is doing politics of hatred."
