Firefighter Boat Crews Conduct Medical Evacuations in Flooded Virginia

As parts of southwest Virginia were flooded over the weekend, first responders from across the state helped conduct medical evacuations on Sunday, February 16.

On Monday, the Chesterfield County Fire and EMS posted photos and videos of the work that some of its firefighters had done in Duffield, Virginia – about 370 miles west of Chesterfield.

“On Sunday, team members spent part of the day in Duffield, in Scott County, working alongside Virginia Task Force 4, conducting medical evacuations along the Clinch River,” the Chesterfield County Fire and EMS wrote on Facebook.

Twenty-four Chesterfield firefighters were serving as part of the Virginia Task Force 8 Urban Search and Rescue Team and were sent home later on Sunday, according to the Facebook post.
