Youth stabs girlfriend to death in Rohtas

Sasaram: A youth stabbed his girlfriend to death, who was also his elder brother's sister-in-law, before attempting to take his own life at Dawath Bazar under the same police station of Rohtas district on Monday night.
Soni Kumari (20) was killed on the spot, while the accused Deepu Pal (22) is critically injured and in police custody.
According to police sources, Deepu, a resident of Mathura village under Garhani police station area in Bhojpur district, had been in a relationship with Soni, the younger sister of his brother's wife. On Monday evening, Deepu visited Soni's house in Dawath Bazar to meet her. However, an argument broke out between the two, during which Deepu lost cool and fatally stabbed Soni, killing her on the spot.
Following the murder, Deepu turned the knife on himself, inflicting serious injuries. Local people immediately rushed him to the govt hospital in Dawath, where he received initial treatment, and then was referred to an advanced medical care centre.
Soni's body has been sent for postmortem at the Sadar Hospital, Sasaram. Police have taken Deepu into custody.
SDPO, Bikramganj, Sanjay Kumar, said investigations are underway to know the exact motive behind the crime. He said based on the written complaint of the deceased's father Lalan Pal, an FIR has been registered in this connection.
