T’gana caste survey for socio-economic justice: Ajay Singh
Hyderabad: AICC OBC cell chairman Ajay Singh Yadav on Monday said the caste survey by the Congress govt in Telangana has shown the roadmap for Backward Classes (BCs) and other castes and communities to demand their deserving share in political, education, employment, and other areas, in proportion to their population and socio-economic conditions.
"Only one percent of the population holds 40% of India's wealth. Over 90% of high court judges in the country are from forward and other castes, and the representation of BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities is very low. To address all these issues, a caste survey is needed as it is like a CT scan that reveals the status of each caste and community on all fronts," Ajay Singh Yadav said.
Reiterating the demand of Rahul Gandhi for a caste census to be conducted across India, he said the new slogan of the Congress is to conduct elections using ballot papers, not electronic voting machines (EVMs).
He also addressed a media conference after attending the OBC cell meeting at Gandhi Bhavan here.
