Green nod to 4.5k mines

Jaipur: Mining department is racing against time to expedite approval for environmental clearances following Supreme Court's directive extending mining operations till March 31. According to official data, as of Feb 17, 17,405 applications were uploaded on Parivesh portal under Form-2. Of these, SEIAA granted clearance to 4,500 projects, 25.86% of the applications, while State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) reviewed and processed 9,600 applications, covering 55.17% of the uploaded cases.
Sources indicate that mining operations lacking clearance beyond March 31, 2025, will not only face closure but also risk having their leases revoked.
