The SG Palya police arrested a gang of six people for allegedly robbing gold and other valuables from people after honey-trapping them.

The arrested have been identified as Suhail Khan, 42, Wahid Ahmed, 27, Syed Shamaluddin, 29, Rekha, 29, Mohammed Irfan, 29, and Salman Khan, 26. According to the police, the accused hatched a plan to honey trap, following which Rekha lured a private firm employee from Chennai on social media.

The victim along with Rekha boarded an autorickshaw to a hotel and paid the driver ₹900. The victim alleged that a few metres ahead, they were accosted by three others who robbed his gold chain and bracelet, and two mobile phones.

The victim filed a complaint with the SG Palya police. The police analysed CCTV footage and caught the autorickshaw driver near Bommanahalli junction on January 29. The police then arrested his associates from different parts of the city and Mysuru.

The police recovered 30 gm of gold from a jeweller in Mysuru to whom it was sold. An autorickshaw and two two-wheelers worth ₹5 lakh were impounded.
